sallyboman4_m.jpgSally Boman has liked art since she was three and discovered she could draw rabbits. She has liked writing since her first essay "Look at the red ball," which has been hailed as a postmodern masterpiece of melancholy. She grew up in Greenville and remembers the old, decidedly less elegant Poinsett bridge, the epic Memorial Auditorium implosion, and the infamous Christmas parade that led to the inception of strict "decency" guidelines. Boman attended high school at St. Joseph's and then Notre Dame. She still enjoyed the liberal and visual arts. Unfortunately, she was forced to choose writing to the exclusion of visual arts in college, writing being the minutely more lucrative and marketable career option. After college, she worked at the Greenville Journal as an intern, writing stories and bothering political figures. It was awesome… except she felt as though she was neglecting the part of herself that still wanted to draw rabbits. After a master's degree in English at Virginia Tech, Boman returned to the Greenville Journal to try layout and design. She has especially enjoyed the work with designing and developing JournalWatchdog because, after all, it is the new wave, baby.
