One of Greenville’s most recognized manufacturing plants on Interstate 385 will be the headquarters for a new packaging company.

D&W Fine Pack was announced this week after a merger between Fountain Inn-based Dispoz-o Products, Wilkinson Industries and C& M Fine Pack. The company will now have combined revenues of more than $300 million with facilities in California, Nebraska, Indiana and Texas.

As part of the merger, company officials said they plan to create 45 jobs at the plant, which is located off Interstate 385 and features a logo of a fork and spoon on one of its towers.

The jobs include 15 in sales, accounting and marketing positions, 25 manufacturing positions and the movement of five senior management members from other areas.

The company has about 600 people in its various facilities.

Joseph Lancia, the company’s president and chief executive officer, said Greenville was chosen as the new headquarters because it was the best economic region in which the company to continue growing.

The company will continue to make its Dispoz-o brand disposable plastic cutlery, cutlery kits, straws and foam products. The Wilkinson brand includes clear plastic deli containers, hinged containers, platters, bowls, aluminum foil, pans and pie plates. The C&M brand includes plastic plates, bowls, containers, trays and baskets.

Its customers include food service companies such as Gordon Food Service, Sysco Corp. and U.S. Foodservice and restaurant chains such as Denny's and Outback Steakhouse, as well as school districts and hospitals. One of its featured lines is EnviroWare, which is a 100 percent biodegradable plastic cutlery, drinking straws and foam dinnerware products.

The deal started in the spring when Mid Oaks Investments LLC, a private investment firm, purchased Dispoz-o for an unannounced sum. Mid Oaks then merged it with Wilkinson, which it had owned since 2004.

Dispoz-o was formed in New York in 1963, but moved to the Upstate in 1985 because company leaders felt the area was a strong manufacturing region and the land was cheaper.
