Ludwig's legal problems continue

John Ludwig Jr.’s legal problems are growing.

He’s has been named in two foreclosure actions and one collection lawsuit.

The cases were filed in Greenville County Court of Common Pleas.

The Greenville businessman avoided jail time earlier this year when a judge suspended his five-year prison sentence to three years probation for plowing his Maserati through a house and killing the homeowner as he watched television and was arrested again Sunday on a third-degree  assault and battery charge.

In a collection action filed on July 30, Wells Fargo Bank alleges Ludwig signed a promissory note on May 23, 2006 with its successor Wachovia Bank for up to $1 million.

According to court papers, Wachovia exercised its right to demand immediate payment of the balance due on May 15, 2009, less than a month after the fatal Maserati wreck.

Ludwig has failed to pay the note and owed the bank $1,028,078.44 as of July 23, according to the complaint.

Wells Fargo is seeking to foreclose on two properties --- 127 W. Antrim Drive and 125 Pelham Commons Boulevard.

Named in the Antrim Drive foreclosure is Ludwig Properties, LLC; Ludwig, System Development and Integration, Inc., a company sold by Ludwig, and At-Net Services, the company which bought SDI’s assets, and Textron Financial Corporation, which holds an interest in a lien on the property.

The amount due on the note is $818,666.95 as of July 23.

The bank wants the court to allow the sale of the property and issue a judgment against the defendants for any outstanding amount due after the sale.

The bank is owed $414,890.33 on the Pelham Commons Boulevard property, according to court papers.

Ludwig’s most recent arrest prompted the state Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon Services to increase Ludwig’s supervision level to intensive, meaning he will have to report to his probation officer once a week and have house visits at least monthly.

Ludwig is accused of spitting on a man on July 20 at Barley’s Taproom, according to a warrant.

The man, who formerly served on the board of the Boys Home of the South with Ludwig, told police Ludwig called him by name and reached out as if to shake hands. When the two shook hands, Ludwig forcibly pulled the man toward him and wouldn’t let go, according to police.  The man was able to pull away but said Ludwig uttered a profanity and spit on him.

The charge is a misdemeanor and carries a jail sentence of up to 30 days.

A hearing is scheduled for Sept. 8 in Greenville Municipal Court.

If convicted, a judge could revoke his probation on the reckless homicide case and an unrelated assault plea and send Ludwig to prison.

Favored treatment as a big-ole-boy football player, fair-haired and ambitious, he has always been given a "pass" for his overly-agressive, anti-social behavior. It will just continue until he kills again or gets killed. Reply

He is a master manipulator with money and that is why he can buy his way out of trouble each and every time. Because of his spoiled upbringing, he feels entitled to all his money, lifestyle, and matieral things. He is a JOKE and a laughing stock. But he is not mentally ill by any stretch of the imagination. That excuse is used by far too many people in this day and age to try and get out of life's troubles. Reply
