Teyonah Parris and Nichole Beharie are appearing in John Guare’s “A Free Man of Color” with Emmy and Golden Globe winner Jeffrey Wright, while Liza Bennett appears in “The Merchant of Venice,” which stars Al Pacino. Hitt has been BMW’s go-to guy for nearly 20 years in incentive negotiations with the state and has dealt with South Carolina’s last five commerce secretaries. Observers say he has played a key role in one of the state’s biggest business successes.

“Over the last 15 years, Greenville has transformed itself in terms of cultural identity,” said Denise Woodward-Detrich, director of Clemson’s Lee Gallery. “And in terms of the city’s art scene, Clemson alumni have made a big contribution.”
